About Us & Our
Hotel
The Sewerby Grange Hotel
Welcome to the Sewerby Grange Hotel &
Restaurant. Providing excellent accommodation, exquisite
food, wonderous wines and the ultimate in relaxation.
This fine building was built at the expense
of the Rev. Yarburgh Gamaliel Lloyd-Graeme in 1865
and it was the vicarage for St. John the Evangelist
church.
In the book “A History of Yorkshire –
East Riding” it is said that the incumbent
(holder of office) resided at the house from 1870
until 1955 when the house was sold and it became
a private residence.
It wasn’t until 1969 that the name of the
house changed to ‘Sewerby Grange’.

Head Chef / Proprietor -
Daren
Daren trained as a chef at Hull College.
He then spent 8 years refining his skills at the
Wilson Arms Hotel in Threshfield (N.Yorks) &
at the highly rated Expanse Hotel in Bridlington.
At the Expanse Daren met an highly skilled chef
by the name of Chelsea Shaw.
In 1995 Daren decided that he wanted his own restaurant
and opened the Old Forge Restaurant in Sewerby Village.
And, by taking Chelsea with him, made the Old Forge'
the best restaurant in the Bridlington area.
Daren fulfilled his life long ambition to own Sewerby
Grange when he bought the hotel in December 2003. |
